July 12, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The king of conservative talk radio delivered a dire warning Wednesday about what he said are the anti-democratic aims of the modern Democratic Party.

“It’s becoming clear to the left that the only thing standing in their way now is elections,” Rush Limbaugh said during his show, WorldNetDaily reports.

“If they can find a way around that, then they don’t need to worry about appealing to people or getting out the vote or coming up with ways to convince people to vote,” he explained. “If you look at the way the radical left is going with this intolerant bullying and intimidation of anybody who disagrees with ’em, and the desire to stop any expression of any alternative view or way of thinking?”

“That has a natural conclusion,” Limbaugh continued. “If you’re gonna shut people up, if you’re gonna bully ’em, if you are a gonna shut ’em down, if you’re gonna make sure they cannot be heard, say, on a college campus or in a public protest – if you’re gonna make sure they can’t be heard in the classroom or on Facebook or Twitter – then how far is it down the road where you don’t want them to be heard at the ballot box?”

Left-wing politicians, activists, and institutions have come under fire for a variety of actions conservatives say amount to censorship and intimidation.

Google, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have all been accused of suppressing and wrongly restricting or deleting conservative content on platforms that are officially stated to be politically-neutral and open to everyone. Conservative voices have long felt unsafe at colleges, as evidenced by countless incidents every year.

Left-wing leaders like Rep. Maxine Waters have begun openly advocating the harassment of Trump administration officials, mainstreaming the tactics of far-left agitators such as Antifa. The LGBT lobby has made successful use out of boycott campaigns to pressure states not to adopt legislation it deems “anti-LGBT.” And Democrats increasingly support policies that coerce private citizens to promote abortion, produce pro-homosexual messages, and subsidize birth control, as well as forbidding peaceful demonstration outside of abortion facilities.

“I’m telling you that they’re gonna start thinking this way, because in their perverted worldview, the biggest problem they have right now is they’re losing elections. And their way of thinking is, ‘Well, we gotta get rid of elections then,’” Limbaugh predicted. “If elections are the problem, rather than figuring how to win ’em, since that’s becoming problematic for ’em, ‘We just gotta find a way to get rid of ’em.’ Do not laugh. This may happen some years down the road long after we’re all gone, and I hope somebody remembers that this was uttered as a potential possibility way back when in the early 2000s.”

While no major politicians have yet suggested literally suspending elections, conservatives have long argued that the intensity of left-wing opposition to Republican judicial nominees is rooted in a desire to use the courts to enact policies on issues such as abortion and sexuality that the electorate would not support at the ballot box.

“What do you think open borders, mass amnesty is about?” the host asked. “If American citizens won’t vote for you, then make sure a bunch of people get into the country who will.”

Many conservatives argue that liberals support lax immigration policies because they believe immigrants are disproportionately likely to vote for Democrats.

“Don’t doubt me on this, folks,” Limbaugh warned. “These people have such an entitlement and quest for power that leaving it up to public opinion among a bunch of dolts and uninformed, uneducated hicks? That’s not gonna happen. That’s not gonna be allowed to happen for very long.”
