MIAMI, Florida, July 7, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The international truck leasing company Ryder System Inc. will no longer be providing trucks to Stericycle Inc., a waste management company that services a reported 586 Planned Parenthood locations and hundreds of other abortion facilities nationwide.

Stericycle is the nation’s leading waste management company which depends entirely upon truck leasing companies like Ryder to provide vehicles for its waste collection routes.  Using these leased trucks, the company picks up “biohazardous waste” boxes, confirmed to contain the remains of aborted babies, from abortuaries across the country in order to be incinerated.

As a result of the efforts of the Campaign to Stop Stericycle (CSS), Ryder’s subsequent investigation, and the outcry of the public, Ryder trucks will no longer be used by Stericycle to service abortion facilities.

Ryder’s Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President Bob Fatovic told the CSS last month that Ryder is “changing [their] business and service relationship with Stericycle” after the company’s investigation into Stericycle’s collection, transportation, and incineration of aborted children.

Fatovic stated that in approximately 30 days Ryder’s trucks would be fully removed from all of Stericycle’s routes that service abortion facilities, and may not be used to service the abortion industry “in any way, shape or form.”

“We applaud Ryder System, Inc. for removing itself from the equation and understanding the serious concerns associated with Stericycle’s use of its trucks to collect and transport the bodies of murdered children and the tools used to kill them,” stated Michael Marcavage of CSS.

CSS maintains that, along with those who operate the abortions mills, those who aid and abet the procedural deaths of thousands of innocent children are equally culpable.  The campaign was founded after pro-lifers confirmed that Stericycle Inc. was servicing hundreds of abortion clinics with leased vehicles.

Last year, Penske Truck Leasing, another major company leasing to Stericycle, also stopped their contract after learning from CSS how their trucks were being used.

Penske Truck Leasing President and CEO Brian Hard sent an email to the campaign soon afterward, which vowed, “We have been, and you have my word that we will continue to be, proactive in stopping Stericycle from using our trucks to service abortion clinics.”

Just last month, pro-life watchdog Operation Rescue learned that Stericycle was responsible for the illegal dumping of aborted babies in Texas.

The report indicated that Stericycle picked up boxes containing aborted baby remains once a week from the Whole Women’s Health of Austin. The contents were then autoclaved, or steamed, then dumped at the BFI Sunset Farms Landfill.

However, by Texas law, aborted baby remains are considered “pathological waste,” something the Austin Stericycle Autoclave facility is not permitted to handle. Properly treated remains are required to be dumped in a special kind of landfill, not a municipal one like the BFI Sunset Farms facility.  Penalties for the violations are now being determined by the enforcement branch of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and could include hefty fines.

CSS has also confirmed that the number one supplier to Stericycle is the company Idealease, which has approximately 400 national affiliate locations and grosses over $150 million dollars a year.  The campaign group is now encouraging citizens to call upon Idealease President Dan J. Murphy to instruct his company to stop supplying the means for Stericycle to service abortion facilities.

Since Idealease is also a franchised company, citizens are exhorted to additionally contact their local Idealease office and request that they not lease their vehicles to Stericycle for the use of servicing the abortion industry.

“Ryder’s decision to distance itself from Stericycle’s involvement with the abortion industry is another significant step toward ending Stericycle’s facilitation of the abortion holocaust,” said Marcavage. “We hope that the remaining truck leasing companies will follow the lead of Penske and Ryder and stop providing resources to Stericycle to assist abortion facilities in carrying out their evil deeds.”
