The research team, which includes Dr Rhodri Jones, a specialist in the immune system at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, and David Liu, obstetrician at the City Hospital in Nottingham, were hailed by the media as “pioneers” in trying to help pre-born children with certain ailments.
