WASHINGTON, Aug 2, 2001 (LSN.ca) – For the second time in a week a U.S. Senate Committee moved to reinstate funding for groups which lobby for and perform abortion overseas. Yesterday the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 12-7 to permanently reverse Bush’s Mexico City Policy. Commentators suggest the panel approvals signal a coming showdown of the Democrat-led Senate with the Bush Administration over abortion.
