WASHINGTON, D.C., May 6, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton sent a secret e-mail asking her scheduler to set aside time to meet “some friends at the Planned Parenthood event” – including Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards.
The message, sent from Clinton's private server and e-mail account, is part of two batches of newly uncovered e-mails obtained by Judicial Watch. Together they total 241 pages.
In a message dated March 18, 2009, addressed to top aide Huma Abedin and scheduler Lona Valmoro, Clinton wrote: “I'd like to see some friends at the Planned Parenthood event in Houston before the event, since I plan to leave after I speak.”
“Can you set it up?” Clinton asked. “I'd like to include Gina Glanz [siz], Laurie Rubiner, Cecile Richards. Who else will be there?”
The event in question was her March 27, 2009, speech at the Planned Parenthood gala, at which she accepted the Margaret Sanger Award.
“I am really in awe of her,” Clinton said of the eugenicist who founded Planned Parenthood.
The friends Secretary Clinton met could be as controversial as Sanger in their own way.
Cecile Richards, the daughter of former Texas Gov. Ann Richards, has been caught in numerous public controversies – including her role in Planned Parenthood's controversial fetal organ and tissue harvesting practices and her admission under oath that Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms, a reversal of her oft-stated public stance.
Gina Glantz (whose surname Clinton misspelled “Glanz”) was, until recently, chairwoman of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Although PPAF describes itself as “the advocacy and nonpartisan political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America,” the group endorsed Hillary Clinton in January and announced its intention to spend $20 million electing her the next president this fall.
Glantz, a former Berkeley campus radical, also sat on the board of Planned Parenthood Golden Gate in the 1990s.
She once worked as a political consultant for NARAL, Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Ford Foundation.
Glantz also formerly served as a senior adviser to Andrew Stern, ex-president of the Service Employees Industrial Union (SEIU), the well-funded, far-Left union whose members are occasionally accused of perpetrating violence. Through the years the union's leaders, especially Stern, have enjoyed close ties with the Obama administration.
Glantz is presently on the board of Demos, a George Soros-funded nonprofit founded by Senator Elizabeth Warren's daughter, where she serves alongside former Obama Green Jobs Czar Van Jones.
She also worked on or managed the presidential campaigns of Walter Mondale, Bill Bradley, and Howard Dean. She later helped co-found a series of Soros-funded, liberal 527 get-out-the-vote organizations, including Americans Coming Together (ACT) and America Votes.
Most recently, Glantz launched the new feminist organization, GenderAvenger, because she felt women were “absent from or underrepresented in the public arena.”
The other friend Clinton mentioned, Laurie Rubiner, was then Planned Parenthood's vice president for public policy and advocacy. Rubiner helped draft then-Senator Hillary Clinton's health care reform policy in 2008, when she was her legislative director. She has also worked with Democratic Sen. Chris Blumenthal of Connecticut and the late, pro-choice Republican Sen. John Chafee.
The e-mail underscores Clinton's close alliance with the nation's largest abortion provider, proving that, for her, the personal truly is political.
While her husband campaigned on a platform of keeping abortion “safe, legal, and rare,” the former first lady has said that even religious beliefs that oppose abortion “have to be changed.”
In response to the Center for Medical Progress' undercover videos detailing Planned Parenthood's gruesome practices, Clinton said, “I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood.”
She has said this presidential election “is about whether abortion is legal.”
And Clinton has called for taxpayer-funded abortions at home and abroad, saying, “Any right that requires you to take measures to access it, is no right at all.” That could prove problematic, as 70 percent of Americans oppose taxpayer-funded abortion.
Beyond electoral concerns, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton says the new e-mails may pose legal troubles for the Democratic frontrunner.
“These emails further undermine Hillary Clinton’s statement, under penalty of perjury, suggesting she turned over all of her government emails to the State Department,” he said. “How many more Hillary Clinton emails is the Obama State Department hiding?”
