WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — It has been more than a month since the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and only now are Secret Service (SS) agents being held responsible for failing to protect the former president.

At least five members of the SS have been put on paid leave, including the head of the agency’s Pittsburgh field office, multiple outlets are reporting. All agents have been barred from field duties and investigative tasks, though they can still work remotely. One individual was part of Trump’s personal protective team.

The stunning failure by the SS to coordinate with local police to prevent 20-year-old Thomas Crooks from firing multiple shots at President Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, has prompted many political observers to speculate that it was an inside job by the Deep State to take Trump out ahead of the Republican National Convention, which commenced on Monday, July 15.

LifeSite geopolitical analyst Frank Wright argued that the shooting was an “attempt to kill the enemy of the global system” because “Donald Trump is the mortal enemy of the entire political establishment of the U.S. and its subject nations.”

SS director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in disgrace after being grilled by members of the House of Representatives during testimony this summer. Not only did Cheatle fail to explain the breakdown in communication that happened that day, but she told the media that agents were not stationed on the building Crooks fired from because it had a “sloped roof.”

Video evidence indicates Crooks was walking the perimeter of the Trump rally one hour before the shooting. He was also photographed by Secret Service snipers and seen on the roof by them – and others – well before shots were fired. Rallygoers even warned law enforcement that he was on the roof.

Recently released body camera footage also shows a policeman climbing on the roof, looking at Crooks, then running away after noticing he had a gun. The officer can be heard later in the video criticizing the SS for not putting someone on the building despite having warned them previously.

Conservative think tank Heritage Foundation has found that mobile devices that “regularly visited” Crooks’ home as well as his place of work also visited a location near SS and FBI headquarters in Washington, a fact that raises the possibility that intel agencies coaxed Crooks to take action against Trump.

Republicans have blamed the attack on Homeland Security Secretary Alexander Mayorkas for having turned down repeated requests from the Trump team to beef up his security over the past two years. Missouri GOP Senator Josh Hawley has continued to provide updates on the shooting with help from a whistleblower. During a recent appearance on Fox News, he said the SS is trying to cover up the fact that the agency “attempted to withhold resources” from Trump’s rally.

On July 27, Trump took to TRUTH Social to declare that he will not be scaling back his campaign events to indoor arenas, which the SS had urged him to do.

“I will continue to do outdoor rallies, and Secret Service has agreed to substantially step up their operation. They are very capable of doing so. No one can ever be allowed to stop or impede free speech or gathering!” he exclaimed.

Trump has also announced that he would be returning to the same location he was shot at in Butler for another rally, but as of the publication of this story, he has not announced when that will take place.
