WASHINGTON, October 25, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The U.S. Senate on Wednesday overwhelmingly passed a $15.6 billion foreign aid bill. The bill passed 96-2 even though it contains a provision to reverse President Bush’s Mexico City Policy, which bans funds from organizations, which provide and promote abortion. The companion bill which passed the House in July did not contain the pro-abortion provision.

Reuters reports that the provision will be fought out when House and Senate negotiators meet to resolve differences in the bills.
