WASHINGTON, D.C., April 14, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The U.S. Senate Thursday afternoon voted 58-42 to strike down a measure that would have deprived the Planned Parenthood Federation of America of federal taxpayer funding in the FY2011 budget bill.

The measure, which would have needed 60 votes to pass the Senate, had passed in the House of Representatives minutes before largely along party lines.

The Senate also rejected 53-47 a measure that would have defunded President Obama’s health care bill, a measure the House had passed.
