WASHINGTON, D.C., March 22, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – If two Republican senators have their way, the president will have to receive his health care the same way every other American will: from ObamaCare.

The Hill reports Sens. Susan Collins, R-ME, and Kelly Ayotte, R-NH, have proposed new amendments to the Senate’s budget that would require President Obama and Vice President Biden to obtain their health care through the newly created state exchanges mandated by the president's signature health care law.

Obama pledged to join a health care exchange shortly after his health care law passed. The amendment offered by Collins and Ayotte would put that promise in writing, effectively holding him to it.

While most Senators, Congressmen and their staff must already buy their health insurance through the exchanges as the result of a previous provision written by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-IA, the executive branch and certain permanent congressional staffers are not currently required to do so. They receive their health insurance through a separate, government-funded entity set up for federal employees.

Twenty-six states have washed their hands of any responsibility for the state exchanges, leaving the federal government to pick up the rapidly expanding tab.
