HONG KONG, Jan 5, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong (FPAHK) held a briefing session on 19 December 2000 at the St. Monica’s Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten (Hing Tung) to elaborate details of the Early Childhood Sexuality Education Development Project. The project will, over the next two years, “provide a school-based sex education training programme for teachers and parents of 25 kindergartens or nursery schools, focusing on the attitude, skills and knowledge of sex education.” Dr. Susan Fan, Executive Director of FPAHK added: “We believe that kindergartens participating in this pilot project will take a leading role in promoting early childhood sex education through experience sharing with educators of other kindergartens.”

Ms. Grace Lee, Education Officer-in-charge of FPAHK, disclosed that so far 9 kindergartens and 1 nursery school have committed to participate in the project. FPAHK will also develop an “Early Childhood Sexuality Education Teaching Kit” to help educator implement sex education.
