TORONTO, June 6 (LifeSiteNews.com) – On Saturday, Terry Graham Jr. pulled his father our of Peel Memorial Hospital refusing further medical treatment for him.  Graham is suffering from a rare disease Mitochondrial Myopathy which has resulted in his blindness and severe pain.  The Toronto Sun reported Saturday that Graham Jr. has been campaigning on behalf of his father to obtain physician assisted suicide.

However, specialists in the field have noted that Mr. Graham has been improperly treated since the traditional pain remedies are ineffective against the rare disease. Palliative Care Specialist, Dr. John Swift, who has been successfully managing the pain for patients with this same rare disease, has said that Graham’s case calls for proper treatment rather than suicide.  Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition of Ontario told LifeSite that he “cannot consider it a free choice (for suicide) when one is not even being given the proper pain management to feel comfortable.”
