MADRID, Feb 26 (LSN) – According to Spanish journalists, Spain’s Health Commission requested that the Ministry of Health approve distribution of the abortion pill RU486. Reports indicate that the Ministry agreed to the request within 48 hours. The vote to pass the resolution was unanimous, including the votes of the governing party. The Health Ministry must conduct scientific examinations on the drug before it can be distributed. In Spain abortions are permitted only when there is risk of harm to the mother’s health.
