BOSTON, Apr 30 (LSN) – The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) published a report today on a study of RU486 conducted by “researchers” from the Population Council, an extremist pro-abortion group. The report, which predictably found in favour of the abortifacient drug, was commissioned after President Bill Clinton took the extraordinary step of inviting the manufacturer to apply to market the poison in the United States, in 1993. Clinton, whose abortion advocacy is nothing short of fanatical, also interfered with Federal Drug Administration attempts to prevent illegal importing of the drug.  The Population Council “researchers” concluded mifepristone (RU486), is “effective in terminating pregnancies, especially in women with pregnancies of 49 days’ duration or less.”  Analysis of the study’s own data, however, reveals some very disturbing facts. According to the article, half the women studied would have actually delivered their murdered children at home after the administration of the chemicals used to kill and then expel the child. They would therefore have been left to suffer the emotional and physical consequences alone.  The study also reveals that about 65 of the 2015 women studied ended up with such severe complications they were “hospitalized, underwent surgical intervention, and received intravenous fluids.”  A study on the same drugs with similar findings published in the same journal in April, 1995 found that “the combination [of RU486 and misoprostol to induce labour] failed in 5-13% of these subjects,”  and that “17-20% of these women did not keep their follow-up appointments, while the drugs caused serious side effects up to 70% of the time.” That study, by Hazem El-Refaey, M.D., et al., said that such findings raised “serious questions about the safety of RU 486.”
