WASHINGTON, D.C., November 26, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Pro-life activists around the country are participating in a “Tweetfest” today to draw attention to a pair of undercover videos exposing disturbing facts about sales of the controversial emergency contraceptive drug “Plan B” in the United States.
Pro-life users of Twitter have been asked by Students for Life of America to “tweet” a combination of facts, calls to action and quotes from the videos on their own pages, along with a link to “Expose Plan B,” the group’s homepage for the project.
Most of the Tweets suggested by the group focus on the second video, which depicts two pro-life activists posing as a 33-year-old rapist and his 15-year-old victim. In pharmacies in four different states, the man admitted to store employees that he was purchasing “Plan B” because he did not want the teen girl’s parents to find out about their sexual relationship. Stating that the minor did not want to take the pill, he requested advice about sneaking the drug into her drink against her wishes, and at least one store employee complied.

Wrote SFLA president Kristan Hawkins, in an e-mail to supporters, “While the situation in our 2nd video may seem extreme, real instances of this and worse have taken place with [other abortion-causing medications.]” She cited a list of reported cases of men who have attempted to sneak abortion drugs into their lovers’ bodies without consent. “Patterns of similar abuse could easily emerge with the sale of Plan B being so accessible to men who want to cover up their crimes with underage girls,” said Hawkins. “This is about protecting women and young girls… .”
A few of the recommended Tweets also refer to a previous video released by the group, which highlights how lax the regulation of abortifacient drugs has become in the U.S. Currently, it is illegal for someone under 18 to buy Sudafed, a common sinus decongestant, but even the youngest of girls can buy “Plan B,” a high-dose hormone pill which can cause heavy bleeding, allergic reactions, life-threatening ectopic pregnancies and possible early abortion.
