LONDON, England, November 13, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A large majority of British women surveyed by the French lifestyle magazine Top Sante blamed morally-lax TV shows for the contemporary breakdown of relationships. An impressive 74% criticized “EastEnders,” a popular evening soap opera, as “the No. 1 marriage wrecker,” while “Sex and the City” and other shows drew criticism for sending out the message that infidelity is normal. Meanwhile, 82% of women said, “it is possible to stay faithful forever.”  As is typical for such magazines, the survey focussed on what leads to “great” sex, but among its findings was that 95% of women believe “being faithful is important in a long-term relationship,” with 16% reporting they had had extramarital (or extra-current-relationship) affairs. Juliette Kellow, Top Sante’s editor, said, “The truth is … deep intimacy [is] most likely to happen within the trusting, committed environment of marriage or a long-term relationship.”
