STOCKHOLM, June 6, 2002 (LSN.ca) – The socialist-led Swedish parliament approved legislation Wednesday to allow homosexual couples to adopt children jointly, even in cases of foreign adoption. The move prompted homosexual activists to target homosexual marriage. Sweden allowed homosexuals legally registered partnerships in 1995. AP reports that Sweden and fellow Nordic nations Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland already recognize legal partnerships between homosexuals, but only Denmark and Iceland allowed adoption. The law will likely take effect next year. See the AP coverage: https://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020605/ap_on_re_eu/sweden_gay_adoptions_4
