TAIPEI, August 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A bill which would have stripped the right of fathers to protect their unborn children from being killed by abortion was delayed yesterday in the Taiwan parliament.  The bill would have eliminated the current requirement of consent of the husband when a married woman requests an abortion.  The bill also included allowing married spouses to undergo tubal ligation or vasectomy without the consent of their spouse.  The bill stipulated that the decision to abort a child should be considered for three days prior to its execution.  Religious groups objected to the legislation which was set to be passed today.  “Since there’s still room for further debate over the controversial issue, we have decided to put it on hold for the time being,” Cabinet Spokesman Lin Chia-lung quoted Premier Yu Shyi-kun as saying.  See the local coverage:  https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2003/08/28/2003065521
