COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (LifeSiteNews) — A former “Teacher of the Year” is now getting a very different reception from Colorado Springs School District 11 for wearing a T-shirt affirming biological reality at a faculty-only meeting.

The Denver Gazette reported that English teacher Stacy Adair, last year’s Teacher Freedom Alliance Teacher of the Year, wore a shirt bearing the message “XX=/= XY” to a teachers-only prep day. She thought nothing of it at the time, but a week later says she “got sat down and read like a reprimand and was asked questions like what was my intent,” with a warning not to wear it again.

Adair says she is aware of a policy against clothes that “disrupt the educational environment” but noted she had not been wearing it in the presence of any students, and among her colleagues “there was no disruption. No one said anything about it.”

She says she has since been informed she was reported to Safe2Tell, an anonymous hotline run by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office for “students, parents, and community members” to “report information about any issues that concern their safety or the safety of others.” She also noted the hypocrisy of the situation given that she has “seen it all” from pro-LGBT paraphernalia regularly worn to school by other teachers.

“It’s not anti anything,” Adair said in an interview with Fox News. “Biological facts are facts, and teachers above everybody else should be focusing on facts and biology and things that are … true.”

It is an article of progressive faith that gender is no more than a matter of self-perception that individuals are free to change at will, with no correlation to biological sex, which in reality is rooted in an individual’s chromosomes and reflected by hundreds of genetic characteristics. Yet for years LGBT activists have worked to promote “gender fluidity” across public education, libraries, health care, and cultural traditions such as beauty contests, school homecomings, and athletic competitions.

Critics say their efforts have yielded a wide array of harms, both to the physical and mental health of gender-confused individuals themselves as well as to the rights, health, and safety of those who disagree, such as girls and women forced to share intimate facilities with males, female athletes forced to compete against biological males with natural physical advantages, and individuals forced to affirm false sexual identities in violation of their consciences, their understanding of scientific fact, and/or their religious beliefs.
