(LifeSiteNews) — Conservatives succeeded in cancelling a drag show that would have been available to children.
This past Sunday, Cool Beans Bar and Grill in Denton, Texas, was set to host an all-ages, Disney-themed drag show but sent out a cancellation notice on Thursday in response to backlash.
Cool Beans, a bar advertised as a place to find “drinks, debauchery, good people and lots of booze,” went on to say that they were ashamed of the “horrible DM’s… aggressive phone calls, and hateful comments” that they received leading up to the event.
“Having a safe space that day, or any day, takes precedence over all else,” Cool Beans said in a statement. “That being said, our drag brunch has caught a lot of attention from certain political groups who have made it very clear that they aren’t happy about this event. With todays climate, it’s better to be safe than sorry and unfortunately, this is that exact situation.”
Archbishop George Lucas needs the support of faithful Catholics as he tries to withstand the LGBT lobby's attacks on his transgender policies in schools.
The Archdiocese of Omaha has paused the implementation of sensible policies protecting children from the transgender ideology due to sustained push back from LGBT activists and allies.
Abp. Lucas must be supported now to stop the spread of the LGBT ideology in Catholic schools.
SIGN: We stand with Abp. Lucas in resisting LGBT influences on children in school.
Now under revision by the archdiocese, Archbishop Lucas' policy would have:
- required students to use bathrooms & locker rooms that "correspond with their biological sex"
- required students to compete in sports against members of the same biological sex
- prohibited students from attending school dances with dates of the same sex
These are the sensible policies Catholics must defend as the archbishop begins his review.
Students suffering gender dysphoria would not have been denied school admission as a result, and bullying or discrimination were also expressly prohibited under the code.
However, a student could be dismissed if his/her expression of gender or sexuality caused confusion, scandal, or disrupted the Catholic education program, thus upholding a Catholic sexual ethic in the school.
It's vital that these sensible policies are implemented - please SIGN & SHARE our petition now.
Dissident cleric Fr. James Martin SJ is among several clergy who attacked the archbishop's policies, claiming the church “should be listening more to transgender people themselves.”
“This phenomenon is still being understood by physicians, biologists and psychologists. So before the church issues documents, with restrictive rules and regulations that end up excluding transgender people, we need to listen and learn,” Fr Martin asserted in the Washington Times.
A number of schools announced to the media they would not be adopting Abp. Lucas' policies, and negative feedback from several parties subsequently prompted the archbishop to delay implementation and announce a full review of the documents.
"We will use feedback to draft revised norms that will be more clearly focused and will not compromise the teachings of Jesus Christ and the church," Archbishop Lucas wrote. "We plan to share a revised policy by the end of the calendar year for inclusion in school policy manuals for the 2023-2024 school year."
The revised policy musn't be watered down to allow LGBT propaganda survive in our schools.
Support Abp. Lucas as he faces this storm of opposition, so that children are best protected into the future.

Thank you.
The bar went on to say that they decided to cancel their event when it “caught a lot of attention from certain political groups who have made it very clear that they aren’t happy about this event.” They said the cancellation was neither a “win” for the other side nor a sign of agreement, but that it was done out of concern for the safety of employees, performers, and customers.
Leading up to the event, various conservatives used their social media platforms to urge followers to help them shut the drag show down.
Political commentator Sara Gonzales posted about the event, asking “who’s coming with me to shut it down?”

Likewise, former Texas senator Don Huffines also tweeted, “The devil is coming for your kids. What are you going to do to stop this madness?”

He also tweeted, “To all the sickos hosting child drag shows across Texas: We will shine a light on your perverted plans until you crawl back into the hole you came from. Don’t mess with Texas kids.”

Cool Beans’ drag show is one of several that cancelled after conservates protested. A drag show in Roanoke, Texas drew armed protesters in August and a drag show was also recently cancelled in British Columbia.
