AUSTIN, May 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry has signed a Defense of Marriage Act, making his state the 37th in the U.S. to enact such a measure. “Like the vast majority of Texans, I believe that marriage represents a sacred union between a man and a woman,” he said. “With passage of the Defense of Marriage Act, Texas now joins more than 30 states in reinforcing that basic belief.”  The law prevents the state from legally recognizing same-sex unions that are recognized in other states, particularly from judges who pass rulings claiming to legitimize homosexual unions in law.  For local coverage:  https://www.news-journal.com/news/content/news/ap_story.html/National/AP.V1184.AP-Civil-Unions.html
