ONTARIO, California, April 28, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A California woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another woman’s unborn child by kneeing her in the stomach when she was four months pregnant.
The Associated Press on Tuesday reported that police say Nieshia Johnson, 27, is being held on more than $1 million bail for causing the baby’s death in November 2010 during a fight with the mother, a relative of Johnson’s.
Those who later treated the woman at a hospital for her injuries determined that the child was born prematurely because of blunt force trauma.
The incident happened five months ago. “We waited for a cause of death from the coroner’s report to determine how the baby died,” Detective Jeff Crittenden said. “Then we had to do the filing with the District Attorney’s Office to review the case before we arrested her.”
