Washington, D.C., November 13, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The pro-life media company Heroic Media has partnered with the nation’s largest adoption agency to produce and air an ad called “The Adoption Option” on the Oxygen Network, a cable channel popular among women 18 to 34.

The ad features a pregnant woman explaining why she plans to place her unborn child for adoption, saying adoption will give her baby a better life than she can provide.  A web address and 24/7 help-line phone number is provided for women who would like more information or to speak with a counselor about adoption.

The Oxygen Network is home to “I’m Having Their Baby,” a reality-TV program that follows women experiencing unplanned pregnancies as they go through the adoption process. According to Nielsen, the show is ranked 20th among all ad-supported cable entertainment networks in its key demographic of women 18 to 34.

Heroic Media said in a statement that they joined forces with adoption agency Bethany Christian Services to produce and buy airtime for the video in honor of National Adoption Month.

“Each year more than 6 million women become pregnant,” said Heroic Media spokeswoman Marissa Cope, “almost half of which are unplanned pregnancies, according to the Centers for Disease Control.”

“Adoption is the overlooked option,” she said. “[L]ess than 1 percent of women with unplanned pregnancies choose adoption, but for every adoptive baby there are 30 to 40 couples waiting to welcome the child into their family.”

“Most women don’t understand the feeling of empowerment adoption brings,” said Cope. “We believe this video will alert women to a possibility they may not have yet considered and ultimately save the lives of unborn children.”
