MUNICH, Nov 9 (LSN)  The new socialist government in Germany plans to recognize gay unions and to give benefits to prostitutes. Referring to same-sex unions in an interview with Die Zeit, Justice Minister Herta Daubler-Gmelin said “It is my intention to do away with all inequalities and with the condemnation of these unions. My idea is to create an ad hoc registration.” Zenit news reported on the Catholic Church’s opposition to the plan which it has called a grave threat to marriage and family.  Christine Bergmann, minister for women in the Social Democrat government announced plans to provide prostitutes with employment, health and retirement benefits and the right to sue customers who refuse to pay. “We have a draft law. We only need to introduce it in parliament,”  said Bergmann in an interview in Der Spiegel.
