Yesterday we sent you an important fundraising e-mail. However, immediately after we sent that e-mail, a large number of you contacted our office to alert us to the fact that our donation page was giving an error message when you tried to donate.
It turns out that a serious technical glitch outside of our control has been preventing anyone in the United States from donating on our website for the past four days! The error arose after a criminal used our donation system last week to try to test a list of stolen credit cards they had collected. (Don't worry, it wasn't a security issue. The credit cards were stolen from elsewhere and just tested on our site.) We stopped him, but the process of doing so led to unforeseen consequences.
The timing simply couldn’t be worse. We’re literally in the middle of our most important fundraising campaign of the year, and thanks to this error we are frighteningly behind in reaching our goal.
We are truly grateful for those of you who called and let us know about the problem. Please be assured that the problem is now fixed, and you should be able to make your donation.
Here at LifeSite, we don’t believe these glitches are a mere coincidence anymore. They seem to only happen when we are doing the most important work, whether it is reporting on some crucial development or trying to raise the funds necessary to keep this mission alive.
But, we also trust. We trust in the Lord, who has kept this mission afloat for the past 18 years. And we trust in you, our readers, who have always helped us in a bind.
But right now, we are truly in a bind and need your help!
