WASHINGTON, D.C., August 6, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) –  For the third time in a month, Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has attacked Mitt Romney as an anti-abortion extremist.

“This is not the 1950s,” says a woman named Alex in the latest ad, “Important.”

The new commercial, like its predecessors, intersperses clips of Romney’s speeches with campaign spokeswomen’s comments.

“Contraception is so important to women,” Alex continues. “It’s about a woman being able to make decisions.”

The commercial features Romney’s comment, “Planned Parenthood, We’re going to get rid of that.” The former Massachusetts governor made clear he was referring to federal funding for the nation’s largest abortion provider. Taxpayer subsidies make up nearly half of its budget, amounting to $487.4 million in 2010

“I don’t remember anyone as extreme as Romney,” adds Dawn.

The spot confirms that abortion and federal funding for Planned Parenthood are a dominant theme in President Obama’s re-election campaign.

An ad launched early last month, “Troubled,” falsely claimed that Romney “backed a law that outlaws all abortion, even in cases of rape and incest,”  a claim repeated in a second ad, “Women’s Choices,” just weeks later. The commercial featured a woman named Jenni saying: “I’ve never felt this way before, but it’s a scary time to be a woman. Mitt Romney is just so out of touch.”

Politifact.com said the assertions “twisted Romney’s position to a ridiculous degree.”

The second advertisement came just as the president invoked his pubescent daughters to justify his support for Planned Parenthood during a campaign stop in Portland, Oregon. “Mr. Romney wants to get rid of funding for Planned Parenthood,” he said at the Oregon Convention Center. “I think that is a bad idea. I’ve got two daughters. I want them to control their own health care choices. We’re not going backwards; we’re going forwards.”

He followed that by telling the BlogHer Conference “I’m not going to give any ground” on cutting “vital services like Planned Parenthood.”
