WATERLOO, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — As many universities start phasing out their COVID policies, the University of Waterloo has doubled down on its vaccine mandate by 49 firing staff members.

According to CTV News, the University of Waterloo in Ontario terminated 49 staff members last week for not complying with the institution’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. The enforcement of the policy comes after the province of Ontario decided to drop all COVID-related mandates earlier this month, and after other schools in the province announced their policies will be phased out shortly.

“We have an obligation under the Health and Safety Act to protect our employees, and the employees have the obligation to comply,” said Nick Manning, vice president of university relations.

“All of those who weren’t able to be compliant after progressive measures faced the ultimate result of termination,” Manning added.

Sending mixed signals, the school posted to social media that while it will no longer enforce vaccine or mask mandates on campus starting May 1, the mandatory experimental injection policy will be upheld for “all members of our community” to “continue to provide up to date information on their vaccine status.”

While the University of Waterloo seems to be diverging from the path laid out by government, multiple schools in the province, including Ryerson University, the University of Guelph, Wilfred Laurier University, and the University of Toronto, have all announced that those placed on leave due to their vaccine status will be able to return to work later this spring as mandates are lifted.

Vaccine mandates have been a source of division in Canadian society since the onset of the so-called COVID-19 pandemic. While many consider such mandates a gross assault on individual freedoms that’s unnecessary given COVID-19’s high survivability among most groups, others point to COVID’s now understood minimal risk of asymptomatic spread and research indicating that post-infection natural immunity is far superior to vaccine-induced immunity.

Moreover, according to a growing body of data, vaccine mandates and passports have been a failed strategy for tackling COVID, with many experts suggesting that the millions of reported injuries and thousands of reported deaths linked to the shot suggest the potential harm caused by the injections outweigh the benefit for many.

As affirmed by eminent doctor Peter McCullough, M.D., “[For] people under 50 who fundamentally have no health risks, there’s no scientific rationale for them to ever become vaccinated” against COVID-19.
