(LifeSiteNews) – The Rugby Football Union (RFU), the English governing body for rugby, has concluded that biological males have advantages in strength, stamina and physique” over females and should not be allowed to compete against women.

According to new regulations to be voted on this Friday, biological males will be banned from female contact rugby in England following a two-year review, as reported by The Guardian

The review and consultation concluded that peer reviewed research provides evidence that there are physical differences between those people whose sex was assigned as male and those as female at birth, and advantages in strength, stamina and physique brought about by male puberty are significant and retained even after testosterone suppression,” the RFU stated.

“This science provides the basis of the recommendation that the inclusion of trans people assigned male at birth in female contact rugby cannot be balanced against considerations of safety and fairness,” continued the review

In light of the research findings and work of World Rugby and the UK Sports Councils, and given the difficulties in identifying a credible test to assess physiological variables, it is recommended that this is no longer a viable option at this time and does not necessarily ensure inclusion,” RFU added.

The RFU had previously allowed biological men to play against females after being examined by a panel to examine their testosterone levels and access if their size and weight posed an increased risk to female opponents.

The decision follows World Rugby, the international governing body of rugby, banning biological men, stating, “Transgender women may not currently play women’s rugby… because of the size, force and power-producing advantages conferred by testosterone during puberty and adolescence, and the resultant player welfare risks this creates.”

Last month, the swimming’s world governing body, Fina, moved to ban biological males who have gone through puberty from competing against women. This decision came after male swimmer William “Lia” Thomas was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Thomas, 22, has shattered records and generated national controversy since he began competing on the women’s team in 2019 after swimming for three seasons on the men’s team. Many of his female competitors have condemned allowing males to compete against females and giving men awards designated for women.

Studies have repeatedly shown that gender-confused males massively outperform women in athletic competitions, regardless of attempts at a feminized appearance,” LifeSiteNews has reported. “A recent study published in Sports Medicine found that a year of transgender hormone drugs results in “very modest changes” in the inherent strength advantages of men.”
