TORONTO, May 6, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – LifeSite has learned from a source that the Archdiocese of Toronto will likely rescind its mandated restrictions on religious practices instituted on April 15 because of the SARS outbreak.
The restrictions included no communion on the tongue, no use of closed confessionals for confessions, no water in holy water fonts and other restrictions. A letter is in preparation advising all pastors that the mandated restrictions are rescinded.
The SARS outbreak has been under control for some time now and the World Health Organization has admitted that its now withdrawn Toronto travel advisory was based on inadequate information. The letter to the over 200 pastors plus other diocesan functionaries is expected to be sent in “a day or two”.
