TORONTO, November 2, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A fundraising concert which was scheduled to take place at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto on November 10 to benefit an organization involved in distribution of condoms in Africa has been cancelled on the heels of a LifeSiteNews.com story exposing the situation.Â

The LifeSiteNews.com story, based on a tip from the web log of Catholic World Report editor Domenico Bettinelli (https://bettnet.dyndns.org/blog/weblog.phpÂ), pointed out that the fundraiser at the Cathedral was to support a St. Michael’s Hospital venture called Dignitas International. (see the LifeSiteNews.com coverage: https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2005/oct/05103106.html )

However, Dr. Suzanne Scorsone Communications Director for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, told LifeSiteNews.com today that the concert at the cathedral has been cancelled. Scorsone also informed LifeSiteNews.com that a pamphlet on Dignitas International which appeared on the website of St. Michael’s Hospital (whichÂnoted the condom distribution of the program) was “made without consultation” of authorities at the Catholic hospital.Â

The brochure no longer appears on the Catholic hospital website.Â
