LONDON, England, Feb 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Frieda Hughes, daughter of Sylvia Plath—the famed American-born poet, has lashed out at feminists for exploiting the tragic death of her mother. Plath, who wrote much admired but depressing poetry, was touted by feminists as a martyr for their cause after she committed suicide. Feminists charged that her sentiments and death were wrought by an abusive husband.
On February 3rd the but the National Post reported a different perspective. “Through the courage of her daughter, Sylvia Plath is at last being seen clearly … ‘the silent woman’ (as Plath was dubbed) was silenced all right – not by patriarchy, but by feminism.”
