(LifeSiteNews) — Government data has revealed that irreversible gender-transitioning surgeries have skyrocketed over the past five years in Saskatchewan.
According to Saskatchewan government statistics obtained by Rebel News through a Freedom of Information Act request, alarming numbers of irreversible gender-transitioning surgeries are being performed, including on children.
“What the documents show is a pattern of abuse, a staggering waste of medical resources, and an alarming rise in procedures, including on Saskatchewan children,” the Rebel News report warned.
While the exact numbers of gender-reassignment surgeries for minors were hidden for confidentiality reasons, several irreversible surgeries, including a hysterectomy for girls or an orchiectomy for boys, are available for minors under 19.
A hysterectomy is an irreversible procedure that removes the uterus and other parts of the female reproductive system. Similarly, an orchiectomy permanently destroys the male body by removing one or both testicles.
At the same time, over the past five years, 99 children under 19 received mastectomies and nipple reconstructions that destroy the previously health breast tissue.
Numbers for gender-confused adults revealed the same alarming trend. Over the past five years, hysterectomies jumped from seven to 32 over those years. Additionally, the number of gender-confused people receiving mastectomies and nipple work rose from 23 to 63.
However, mutilating healthy Canadians in the name of “gender affirmation” is in direct opposition to overwhelming evidence showing that persons who undergo so-called “gender transitioning” procedures are more likely to commit suicide than those who are not given such irreversible surgeries.
Additionally, a significant body of evidence shows that “affirming” gender confusion carries serious harms, especially when done with impressionable children who lack the mental development, emotional maturity, and life experience to consider the long-term ramifications of the decisions being pushed on them or full knowledge about the long-term effects of life-altering, physically transformative, and often irreversible surgical and chemical procedures.
Studies also find that more than 80 percent of children suffering gender dysphoria outgrow it on their own by late adolescence and that “transition” procedures, including “reassignment” surgery, fail to resolve gender-confused individuals’ heightened tendency to engage in self-harm and suicide – and even exacerbate it, including by reinforcing their confusion and neglecting the actual root causes of their mental strife.
Already, Alberta has introduced legislation to block irreversible “gender transitioning” surgeries and drugs like puberty blockers and hormones for minors. The province is now defending the legislation in court after LGBT activist attempted to block it from taking effect.
Meanwhile, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has invoked the notwithstanding clause to ensure that three bills passed this year to protect children, parental rights, and women’s sports remain law.
Alberta’s move is similar to Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe invoking his government’s notwithstanding clause to protect pro-family legislation from the courts in 2023.
