CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri, November 6, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — Attendees at a Trump rally Monday sang “Amazing Grace” as an elderly woman who collapsed was tended to by medical professionals and eventually escorted out of the building on a stretcher.

Trump was visiting the reliably red state of Missouri to drum up support for that state’s Attorney General Josh Hawley in his Senate race against incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill, a pro-abortion Democrat who has been in office since 2007.

Most polls show the race is statistically tied.

Trump, who was introduced to the crowd by radio show personality Rush Limbaugh, a native of Missouri, was criticizing Hillary Clinton when he was alerted to the situation in the audience. The president paused and asked the crowd, “Is there a doctor in the house, please? Doctor? Please. Thank you.”

Trump told the emergency workers to “take your time…relax” as he paused the rally for more than six minutes while they cared for the woman.

He then asked the crowd to “say a little prayer,” at which point some people bowed their heads and a number of men removed their hats.

Soon after, the audience began singing the popular Christian hymn “Amazing Grace.”

Trump nodded approvingly and thanked them for singing, saying, “That was beautiful…hopefully she will be okay.”

According to the Daily Mail, someone in the crowd yelled, “Mr. President, thank you for putting God first.”

The rally was held at the Show Me Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The center seats roughly 7,600 people.
