Update 3/23/18 at 1:50 p.m.: President Trump has announced he signed the spending bill but said he will “never sign another bill like this again.” The pro-assisted suicide group Compassion & Choices immediately sent supporters an email celebrating the final bill’s exclusion of an amendment to repeal D.C.’s assisted suicide law. The bill that Trump signed does not defund Planned Parenthood.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 23, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – President Trump’s threat to veto the $1.3 trillion spending bill over its lack of funding for a border wall has a veteran pro-life activist hoping the president will also consider vetoing the legislation as long as it gives money to Planned Parenthood.

The $1.3 trillion omnibus bill, which will continue to fund the government through the fiscal year, doesn’t stop Planned Parenthood from receiving taxpayer dollars. The abortion company receives nearly half a billion dollars from the government annually.

The bill also doesn’t provide funds for Trump’s signature border wall, although it does allow the government to spend money securing other countries’ borders.

And the spending bill sets aside $51 million “to promote International Family Planning and Reproductive Health.”

“Mr. President, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion business in the U.S., making them one of the largest abusers of human beings in the world,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and one of the founding members of the Center for Medical Progress. “It is currently under investigation by your Department of Justice for engaging in the illegal sale of aborted baby remains for profit, as revealed in a series of authenticated undercover videos that shook the nation in 2015.”

“During your 2016 Presidential Campaign, you promised to defund Planned Parenthood,” he reminded Trump. “I urge you now to keep your promise and veto the Omnibus bill until it no longer provides any of our tax money to Planned Parenthood.”

Newman also noted that the two Congressional investigations into the abortion company determined “there is enough probable cause to charge Planned Parenthood with multiple crimes.”

Rep. Steve King, R-IA, suggested in 2017 that the government spend the money it usually gives to Planned Parenthood on building a border wall, thus stopping a major source of revenue for the abortion vendor and helping accomplish one of Trump’s goals.
