MANASSES, VA, September 19, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Several national pro-life organizations have banded together to urge grassroots activists to take to Twitter today as part of a campaign to expose Planned Parenthood’s abortion-centered business model.

The Tweetfest, which will conclude at midnight, coincides with the launch of a nearly 20,000 mile pro-life tour organized by Students for Life of America. The group will visit 41 universities and 20 states over the next eight weeks.

Students for Life’s Planned Parenthood Project was developed after the organization discovered through polling that 59 percent of people between the ages of 18 and 24 do not know that Planned Parenthood provides abortions.

Planned Parenthood’s most recent numbers show that in 2011, the organization performed 334,000 abortions, bringing in $150 million in revenue, making it the United States' leading abortion provider.

“The majority of this generation is against abortion, which is why Planned Parenthood never advertises” the abortion side of their business, said Kristan Hawkins, Students for Life of America's president. “Our goal is simple: We want to educate this generation about Planned Parenthood's real motives and business model in order to turn them against the abortion Goliath and towards pro-life, pregnancy resource centers where they can go for honest, real help.”

At each of their stops, Students for Life will erect a display that is made up of 915 pink crosses, representing the 915 babies that die via abortion in a Planned Parenthood facility every day. In addition, they will show five different billboards with statistics from Planned Parenthood's most recent annual report, such as that 92 percent of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy services were abortions in 2011, and 915 abortions are committed by Planned Parenthood every day.

Participants in today’s Tweetfest are urged to use the hashtags #PPPproject or #abortionnomatterwhat. A Facebook event page for the Tweetfest provides a variety of “tweets” that pro-life activists can send, which link to a video created by Students for Life for the campaign.

The video argues that Planned Parenthood is a “big business that sells one thing: abortions.”

According to the video, they do this by providing youth with graphic sex ed and low quality birth control, which leads to promiscuous sex and unwanted pregnancies that in turn require abortions.

The tweetfest is being sponsored by Students for Life, Stand True, Rock for Life, Americans United for LIfe, the Susan B. Anthony List, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, and Live Action.
