(LifeSiteNews) — Alberta and Saskatchewan have become the first Canadian provinces to remove their mask mandates. Only a few weeks ago, they already got rid of COVID vaccine passports following public support of the truckers’ Freedom Convoy which called for an end to all mandates.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that as of today, masks are no longer required, and most “remaining public health restrictions” have been dropped as part of the province’s “Phase Two” opening plan.

“Starting today, almost all public health restrictions are lifted — including the provincial indoor mask mandate. And we will ensure that municipalities can no longer impose their own public health restrictions,” tweeted Kenney today.

In a press release, Kenney said the “pressure on our health-care system and the people it serves is lessening and we can now move forward.”

Starting today, in addition to the mask mandates being gone, capacity limits are lifted for all venues and all limits of social gatherings have been removed. A mandatory work-from-home requirement has also been removed.

Masking is still mandated on public transit and in healthcare settings, as is “mandatory isolation for COVID-19 core symptoms or a positive test.”

Those who are “fully vaccinated” need only to isolate for 5 days, while those who have chosen to be vaccine-free are still mandated to isolate for 10 days. Nevertheless, the jabbed spread the virus as much if not more than the unvaccinated.

Alberta’s Health Minister Jason Copping attributed the removal of COVID rules to “vaccination uptake in the province.”

The government of Saskatchewan lifted its mandatory mask mandate as of Monday, and those who test positive no longer have to isolate, but it is still “strongly” recommended.

Premier Scott Moe removed the province’s COVID vaccine passport on February 14, and “employees of provincially regulated organizations no longer have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test.”

The government still says that “municipalities, businesses, workplaces and event organizers may choose to continue requiring proof of vaccination or negative testing even without the public health order.”

The government still has in place an emergency order for public health.

As for Ontario, starting today, capacity limits have been lifted in all indoor public settings and the province’s vaccine passport is no longer in effect.

Masking is still mandatory and businesses, if they so choose, can “require proof of vaccination upon entry.”
