(LifeSiteNews) — Authorities have released text messages allegedly between Tyler Robinson and his “transgender” roommate and “partner” concerning the murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, leaving no doubt that the shooter was motivated by left-wing extremism.

Kirk, the head of campus outreach group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. Two days later, authorities apprehended and accused 22-year-old Robinson of the shooting. Utah Republican Gov. Spencer Cox said Robinson viewed Kirk as someone “spreading hate.” Robinson’s ammunition was indeed inscribed with references to “fascists,” but early reports of messages related to transgenderism appear to be false.

Robinson was recognized by his own father from surveillance footage of the suspect. The father confronted him and turned him over to the police. Authorities later confirmed that Robinson was in a romantic relationship with roommate Lance Twiggs, a gender-confused male in the process of “transitioning.” Authorities say Twiggs is cooperating fully with the investigation.

They also released a full text exchange between the two from the day of the shooting, which Newsweek has published in full. The conversation started with Robinson directing Twiggs to look under his keyboard, where he found a note reading, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

TWIGGS: What?????????????? You’re joking, right????

ROBINSON: I am still ok my love, but am stuck in Orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.

TWIGGS: You weren’t the one who did it, right????

ROBINSON: I am, I’m sorry.

The two also discuss the motive:

TWIGGS: Why?

ROBINSON: Why did I do it?

TWIGGS: Yeah.

ROBINSON: I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything about them finding it.

TWIGGS: How long have you been planning this?

ROBINSON: A bit over a week I believe. I can get close to it but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don’t wanna chance it.

After numerous unanswered comments from Robinson about the logistics of escape and how to return the weapon (his grandfather’s rifle), he says:

ROBINSON: Delete this exchange.

ROBINSON: My dad wants photos of the rifle… he says grandpa wants to know who has what, the feds released a photo of the rifle, and it is very unique. He’s calling me rn, not answering.

ROBINSON: Since Trump got into office, [my dad] has been pretty diehard MAGA.

ROBINSON: I’m gonna turn myself in willingly. One of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.

ROBINSON: You are all I worry about love.

TWIGGS: I’m much more worried about you.

ROBINSON: Don’t talk to the media please. Don’t take any interviews or make any comments. If any police ask you questions ask for a lawyer and stay silent.

The exchange makes explicit that, contrary to mainstream media attempts to paint him as “MAGA,” Robinson was motivated by the view that Kirk was “hateful,” presumably regarding transgenderism, a ubiquitous left-wing refrain against anyone who disagrees with gender-fluid ideology (claims various leftists have continued to push even after the shooting).

They also appear to show Robinson as fully lucid and rationally considering how to escape and cover his tracks (before deciding on turning himself in), which would weigh against any attempt to mount an insanity defense.

Turning Point USA will be holding a public memorial for Kirk on Sunday, September 21, which will feature remarks by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other members of the Trump administration, as well as his widow Erika Kirk, populist podcaster Tucker Carlson, and others.
