LONDON, November 22, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A British doctor has admitted to referring women for illegal late-term abortions at a Spanish abortuary, as exposed by The Sunday Telegraph in early October.

Dr Saroj Adlakha admitted she had taken an 18-year-old university student to the Ginemedex clinic in Spain for an abortion, based on a British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) recommendation. BPAS is the National Health Service’s biggest abortion provider, and a publicly-funded charity.  Last month, a 29-week pregnant Telegraph reporter told Adlakha she wanted an abortion; Adlakha referred her to the Ginemedex clinic in Barcelona, despite late-term abortions being illegal in both the UK and Spain. BPAS, which receives £12 million annually from the NHS, admitted to a policy of sending women beyond the legal 24-week limit to the Spanish abortuary.  Ginemedex admitted to committing abortions on healthy babies up to 30 weeks in age, while fabricating paperwork to make it appear legal. Fully 80 percent of the women attending the clinic are BPAS referrals from Britain.  According to a Sunday Telegraph report, “When asked why BPAS was the only abortion provider to direct women with healthy late-term pregnancies to the Spanish clinic, Dr Adlakha said: ‘The reason is I don’t want to put you off, but it’s because you are killing a baby. Rather than killing the baby after, you are killing it inside.’”  Adlakha said she was surprised to learn at what late stage Ginemedex was willing to commit the abortions. “We told them [the clinic] a lie that she was 29 weeks when she was 31-plus weeks,” she said, referring to the 18-year-old. She admitted the woman and child were both completely healthy.  John Reid, the UK’s Health Secretary, has ordered Britain’s Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, to open an investigation into the illegal referrals.  See former LifeSiteNews.com coverage:  British Organization Referring Healthy Babies to Spanish Late Term Abortion Facility https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2004/oct/04101205.html Britain’s Chief Medical Officer Ordered to Investigate Illegal Late-Term Abortion Referrals https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2004/oct/04101904.html   tv
