(LifeSiteNews) – The United Kingdom has just approved a new COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna which is claimed to cover both the original strain of the coronavirus and the Omicron variant, against which the current COVID shots have been largely ineffective.
The BBC reports that the UK’s Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has approved the new bivalent vaccine, which “targets both the original strain and the first Omicron variant (BA.1),” for adult use after it was tested on 437 volunteers.
“Levels of antibodies that were able to stick to and disable Omicron (BA.1) were 1.7 times higher in people given the new vaccine,” the BBC says. “Tests against more recent Omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5), which are causing the UK’s current wave, also showed higher levels of protection with the updated vaccine. However, it is far from clear what that means in terms of preventing someone from becoming seriously ill.”
“What this bivalent vaccine gives us is a sharpened tool in our armoury to help protect us against this disease as the virus continues to evolve,” said the Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency’s Dr. June Raine.
But it remains to be seen how well the safety and effectiveness of the new shot will fare in real-world use, or how long governments, mainstream media, and the medical establishment will promote it should it fail. The performance of the current COVID vaccines and the establishment’s continued promotion of them give ample cause to be doubtful on both counts.
Many people continue to harbor concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the COVID shots, which were developed far more quickly than traditional vaccines under former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative and have failed to stop the spread of the virus.
This March, it was found that 11,289 cases of pericarditis/myocarditis after COVID vaccination were reported to the U.S. government’s federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) between January 1 and February 25 of this year, which was already 47% of the 24,177 reports for the same submitted in all of 2021. An April study out of Israel indicates that COVID infection alone cannot account for such cases, despite claims to the contrary.
COVID shot defenders claim that VAERS offers an exaggerated view of a vaccine’s potential risks, as anyone can submit a report without vetting it, but the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention researchers have acknowledged “high verification rate of reports of myocarditis to VAERS after mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination,” leading to the conclusion that “under-reporting is more likely” than over-reporting.
Further, VAERS is not the only data source indicating cause for concern. Data from the Pentagon’s Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) has been similarly alarming, showing that 2021 saw drastic spikes in a variety of diagnoses for serious medical issues over the previous five-year average, including hypertension (2,181%), neurological disorders (1,048%), multiple sclerosis (680%), Guillain-Barre syndrome (551%), breast cancer, (487%), female infertility (472%), pulmonary embolism (468%), migraines (452%), ovarian dysfunction (437%), testicular cancer (369%), and tachycardia (302%).
