(LifeSiteNews) — The U.K. government has been urging pregnant and breastfeeding women to get the COVID-19 vaccine contrary to the guidelines on the official government website.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the public advice has been that everyone eligible should be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, the “Summary of Public Assessment” on the government’s website has indicated that it is a health risk for pregnant and breastfeeding women to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

“Sufficient reassurance of safe use of the vaccine in pregnant women cannot be provided at the present time,” the document states even in its most recent update on August 16. “Women who are breastfeeding should also not be vaccinated.”

That mixed information is being distributed to the public was widely shared on Twitter by Dr. Norman Fenton, who has since been suspended from the platform. Fenton, a British professor in risk information management, published the post on his blog detailing the news.

Fenton suggested that the government has not changed any of its policies regarding the safety of the vaccine for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

“This would make things even worse as it means that the Government officials and the NHS have been recommending pregnant women get the vaccine against the official Government document advice,” he wrote.

Later, he posted an update that Viki Male, who advocates for the vaccination of pregnant women, replied with the declaration that the Summary is only referring to the Pfizer vaccine, not other UK data. However, the question is still raised as to why government officials have repeatedly encouraged pregnant women to get the vaccine if the website information, which is said to have remained consistent throughout the pandemic, has directly opposed this course of action.

Fenton also obtained a copy [highlights added by Fenton’s source] of guidance sent to UK healthcare professionals in December 2020. This archive states that the vaccine is “not recommended during pregnancy” and “should not be used during breastfeeding.”

In Fenton’s post, he shared multiple examples of public advocating for the vaccine despite pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Sajid Javid, Britain’s Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from June 2021 to July 2022, encouraged pregnant women to get the vaccine for their safety and the safety of their unborn babies in a Twitter post last year. The government’s own “COVID-19 vaccination: a guide on pregnancy and breastfeeding,” updated in April 2022, states that “vaccines available in the UK have been shown to be effective and to have a good safety profile.”

The National Health Service (NHS) also claims that it is “safe to have the vaccine during any stage of pregnancy, from the first few weeks up until your expected due date. You do not need to delay vaccination until after you have given birth.”

Fenton has conducted research on the vaccines throughout the pandemic, including a collaborative study in 2021 that discovered that vaccines expose recipients to “increased mortality,” as previously reported by LifeSiteNews.

Last August, former Pfizer vice president Michael Yeadon shared that all child-bearing age women should completely avoid receiving this vaccine.
