LONDON, July 27 (LSN) – A report released last week by the Lords and Commons Family and Child Protection Group recognizes youth crime, unemployment, and anti-social behaviour as the result of family breakdown.  The group acknowledges that marriage is the “healthiest environment” for the family, and points to evidence showing that children benefit from having their mothers at home for at least the first three years of their lives.  The report indicates that more than 3,000 children suffer the breakup of their parents every week in the U.K. The country also has the second highest divorce rate in Europe, leading political observers to predict Home Secretary Jack Straw will soon announce the creation of an Institute for the Family, aimed at preventing the breakdown of family life in the nation.
