LONDON, September 22, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Royal Society, a major academic institution in Britain has called on the United Nations to avoid attempting to ban human cloning when the human clones created will be used for research and killed before birth. However, the Royal Society has urged a ban on human cloning “for reproduction” – where the clones would be allowed to be born live.
The news comes as the United Nations is gearing up for another attempt to address the cloning issue. An original effort to pass a UN resolution to ban cloning was delayed as some countries sought a comprehensive ban on human cloning and others were willing only to ban human cloning “for reproduction”.
