NEW YORK, Oct 23 (LSN) – On Tuesday the population control arm of the UN lost all of its funding from the United States. The $20 million cut, implemented by Congress as part the federal budget, represented seven per cent of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) funding.  The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CAFHRI) reported that the final straw for Congress was the UNFPA’s support of Chinese population control programs. Last year “UNFPA began a new $5-million program in China, home of aggressive population programs like the ‘one-child policy’ that punish parents who have more than a single child.”  Speaking about UNFPA on Tuesday, pro-life Republican Congressman Chris Smith said “their goal appears to be less about women’s rights than about promoting birth control, whether or not it is accepted by women voluntarily.”
