OTTAWA, Apr. 16 (LSN) – The UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this year’s World Health Day, Tuesday, Apr. 7, to be “Safe Motherhood Day.” Writing in the current issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Dr Andre, B. Lalonde notes that included in UN’s concept of “safe motherhood” is the availability of abortion. While the UN campaign has a global focus,  it is aimed particularly at poor countries, and has recently been promoted by the Chinese government and Hillary Clinton.  Dr Lalonde, Executive Vice-President of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada,  and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa, argues that “among the essential obstetric services that should be available within 45 minutes to 1 hour’s transportation for any woman are family planning
