WASHINGTON, Mar 13 (LSN) – Yesterday, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was in the U.S.  threatening the U.S. government with the loss of voting powers in the UN if they failed to pay $1.3 billion (U.S.) “owed” to the UN. As part of his campaign to urge the U.S. to hand over the funds, Annan said that if the United States paid what he considers its “arrears.”“not a cent” of it would go toward abortion.  Susan Roylance, founder of United Families International reacted to Annan’s promise saying,  “That’s laughable!… It is absolutely not true… The whole UN system promotes the concept of abortion and population control.” Evidence from dozens of official UN documents demanding unrestricted access to abortion in countries around the world support Roylance’s assertions. (Specific documents available on request from [email protected])  Roylance suggests a case can be made against the UN even with abortion supporters. “The issue is not whether or not countries can make that decision but whether or not the UN should be able to override the decision of a country to make that decision,” she said.  If the CEDAW (UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) is ratified by a country, the document says that that country should “take all appropriate measures, including legislation, to modify or abolish existing laws,  regulations, customs and practices which constitute discrimination against women.”“Discrimination against women” according to the UN, includes hampering their access to “safe” abortions as attested to by incessant promotion of abortion in the working out of the CEDAW in the 161 nations that have ratified the document.
