The report calls for laws to be enacted and enforced to promote abortion, contraception and homosexual marriage. It refers to abortion and contraception as “reproductive health and rights” and homosexual marriage “voluntary choice in marriage, family forms”.
More discernment is necessary to decipher terms such as “safe motherhood,” which mainly refers to access to abortion since, according to the UN, “unsafe abortions” are a leading cause of unsafe motherhood. The document says that safe motherhood should be promoted as a “human rights” issue.
