Drumming Up Business for Abortion Industry Leader

LONDON, October 24, 2001 ( – United Nations Population Fund Goodwill Ambassador, and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell has launched a sex website targeted at children under 16 years of age. The site promotes abortion, masturbation and oral sex among youth. The trailer on the site, “LIKE IT IS” reads: “Sick of reading stuff on SEX that doesn’t tell you what you really want to know? Well LIKE IT IS isn’t like that… we’ll tell you everything you need to know EXACTLY AS IT IS … with no frills, no judgments and definitely no holds barred!.”

UNFPA assigned Halliwell to work for Marie Stopes International (MSI). Along with Planned Parenthood International, MSI is the largest abortion provider and promoter the world over. Last year MSI in England, where Halliwell is stationed, offered British women the option of scheduling abortion consultations over the Internet. A press release by MSI on the launch of the website notes that it “is aimed specifically at 11-15 year olds.”

In discussing the option of abortion, which it defines as “a way of bringing pregnancy to an end, either by an operation or by medically prescribed pills,” it calls for counselling. However the site advises counsel from Marie Stopes International, an abortion industry leader which has resorted to Internet scheduling to increase business. Ironically the website warns, “it’s important to seek help from organizations that are impartial.” But the inference is directed only to pro-life groups, as the next sentence reads: “Anti-abortion organizations will not provide unbiased or objective information.” Pro-life crisis pregnancy centres are much more likely to offer genuine help to women, practical alternatives and more complete information about pregnancy and the hazards of abortion.

Halliwell will launch the website Thursday with a live webchat from 5.30pm to 6.15pm British time.
