NEW YORK, October 8, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) –  The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which has been denied US funding due to its collusion in China’s coercive one-child population control programme, today released its State of the World’s Population (SWP) 2003 report.

Scott Weinberg, spokesman for the Population Research Institute which conducted the investigation into the UNFPA collusion in China’s coercive policy, blasted the UNFPA report.  “The SWP report is an annual affair in which the organization racks its collective brain to come up with new euphemisms for promotion of abortion and licentious sexuality,” Weinberg told LifeSiteNews.com.  This year’s propaganda piece focuses on subtitled “Making 1 Billion Count: Investing in Adolescents’ Health and Rights”, pushes for access to abortion, abortifacient drugs, contraception, and graphic sex education for minors as young as 10 years old.  Promotion of abortion in the document comes under the guise of ending ‘unsafe abortions’, combatting ‘maternal mortality’ (caused in the main by unsafe abortions), combatting ‘early pregnancy’, and as a solution for those who ‘want no more children or want to delay their next birth by more than two years.”“Its just another report to be ignored.  The UNFPA supports China’s forced abortion policy and lies about it, so the group lacks all credibility and should be completely ignored,” concluded Weinberg.  The annual report receives heavy and uncritical media coverage throughout the world.  See the report online at:  https://www.unfpa.org/swp/2003/
