WASHINGTON, October 5, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Population Research Institute (PRI), non-profit research and educational organization dedicated to objectively presenting the truth about population-related issues, has investigated the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) role in the draconian one-child program in China. In September 2001 a team of PRI investigators traveled to China to interview women and officials in those counties where the UNFPA is active.

The investigation revealed that UNFPA’s claims that counties in China where it is active, abortion and sterilization policies are not coercive and do not involve tactics such as targets, quotas and forced abortion are untrue. Armed with written, audio, photographic and video evidence, PRI is making the case that the UNFPA, contrary to its own statements, is participating in the management and support of a program of forced abortion and forced sterilization in China, and should therefore be ineligible for U.S. funds.
