UNFPA Ramps Up War On Third World Population

ISTANBUL, May 4, 2001 (LSN.ca) – A press release from the United Nations Population Fund reports that the organization is seeking nearly $1 billion for “family planning supplies (read: abortifacient drugs and devices) and condoms.” Moreover, the press release notes that an additional $4 billion will be required to make “these commodities accessible in developing countries” in 2002.

UNFPA Executive Director Thoraya Obaid made the plug for cash at a forum set up by wealthy corporations interested in third world population control including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Population Action International, the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), John Snow, Inc., and the Wallace Global Fund.

The May 3-5 forum was entitled: “Meeting the Reproductive Health Challenge: Securing Contraceptives, and Condoms for HIV/AIDS Prevention”.
