SALT LAKE CITY, October 31, 2001 (LSN.ca) – A group of 40 Catholic students from the University of Utah, planted 3,200 crosses in the ground in the University’s free speech area Sunday. Each cross represented 32 abortions that take place in the United States every month (98,000 according to statistics).
The group made a procession to the demonstration area carrying candles, crosses and signs proclaiming October “Respect Life Month.” The students passed out pro-life information Monday and Tuesday. Father Rob Reyes, in his first year as the campus Catholic chaplain was impressed by the cross demonstration. “It just makes you get so affected by the [magnitude] of the whole thing,” he said.
